What Nevada does differently

  • No income tax does not mean no payroll tax. Nevada's reputation misleads. Modified Business Tax is a payroll tax on gross wages, and it catches employers who moved to Nevada expecting nothing of the kind.
  • The permit is held hostage to the security deposit. The registration form states a permit will not be issued until applicable security is submitted, the calculation uses the statewide maximum rate whatever your county charges, there is no cap, and the waiver requires three full years of perfect reporting. For corporations, the waiver also takes personal guarantees from two officers.
